Magdal is made primarily with:

  • Moong dal (split yellow lentil) flour
  • Urad dal (split black gram) flour
  • Desi ghee (clarified butter oil) — a lot of richness comes from good ghee
  • Sugar (powdered) for sweetness
  • Flavoring like cardamom, and garnishing with nuts like cashews, pistachios and sometimes mishri (crystal sugar)
